ACTION TAKEN
DE worked with the University of Missouri-Columbia to submit an SMR application to the Economic Development Administration (EDA) in 2013. The initiative would have focused on the manufacture of small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs), assisting Missouri manufacturers in becoming part of a supply chain for SMR production, and assessing the education, training, and certification needed to assure a workforce to support this industry. More recently, DE is working to provide updates to the Department of Economic Development on the state of SMRs in both Missouri and the US as part of its energy study. DE also continues to participate in discussions on SMRs with stakeholders such as the Southern State Energy Board and NGA

Interested parties exist. Movement made.

STEPS TO COMPLETION
Further progress steps include communicating with SMR stakeholders and identifying missing or connecting links in supply chain of resource extractors. We plan to build on previous work, determine if testing lab is needed, update and maintain database of potential SMR suppliers, translate the “Make It in America Challenge” to the “Make It in MO” challenge, and enter known and discovered SMR supply chain suppliers and employers in the DED synchronous system.
